INVITATION // IntCDC Constructive Conversations / Closing the Loop
March 20 | 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
IntCDC is very honored to welcome Tim Schork – Professor in the School of Architecture and Built Environment in the Faculty of Engineering, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) as part of the IntCDC Constructive Conversations series. The event will take place on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. and is open to all AdvanceAEC Partners as a Partner Seminar.
Tim, who is also visiting Professor at the IntCDC at the moment, will give an expert lecture on “Closing the Loop”.
Given the environmental impact of the built environment, global skills shortage in the construction sector, increased housing demand and working within our planetary boundaries, it is evident that what is required to overcome these challenges is to close the loop of existing isolated and linear paradigms and practices. Within this talk Prof Schork will discuss a series of recent projects that illustrate how to multiply and close the loops between education and research, academia and industry, disciplines and knowledge, design and materials, technology and people.
is visiting IntCDC from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where he is Professor in the School of Architecture and Built Environment in the Faculty of Engineering. Before he was Associate Professor and Head of the School of Architecture within the Faculty of Design, Architecture & Building (DAB) at the University of Technology Sydney.
His award winning interdisciplinary research in the areas of computational design, robotic manufacturing processes and low-embodied carbon materials fundamentally rethinks and radically transforms current design and building practices to be more resourceful, regenerative and sustainable. He is a chief investigator of the Research Hub to Advance Timber for Australia’s Future Built Environment (IH220100016) and Associate Investigator of the Australian Cobotics Centre (IC200100001), which are both funded by the Australian Research Council.
His research is concerned with the progressive integration of technology into architectural practice and construction. He has explored the influence of digital design, simulation and fabrication technologies on architecture.
He investigates the progressive integration of computational design and technology into architectural practice and construction. His interdisciplinary research aims to harness the full potential of digital technology and to rethink design and construction with the goal of enabling game-changing innovation in the building sector.
AdvanceAEC – Join this and further AdvanceAEC Partner Seminars and receive an AdvanceAEC certificate!
In 2023 eight partner seminars will take place. Partner seminars are focused on cross-sectional and interdisciplinary topics and are open to all network partners. If you attend at least six of the eight seminars, you will receive a certificate of time attended. You must register for this at the beginning of each event. The procedure for this will be briefly explained before each seminar.
The access data for this event is available to AdvanceAEC members. All researchers working in the field of AdvanceAEC are warmly invited to join the network. Please register or log-in to your account to access the event credentials.
We are looking forward to welcoming you.
