ICD Research Talk – Luis Orozco

Vita:

Luis Orozco is a Research Associate and PhD Candidate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He is also a registered architect in the state of New York, USA. He is a member of the EXC 2120: Cluster of Excellence IntCDC – Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture where his research focuses on a novel, digital, modular wood building system to enable the adoption of prefabricated timber construction in additional building typologies.

Prior to joining the ICD, Luis worked as a Computational Designer and Project Architect at HKS Architects in London, UK. There, he applied computational design thinking and techniques, and coordinated international project teams across sectors, specialising in Health and Stadium projects and a focusing on the MENA region. He was project lead on the Kuwait Children’s Hospital, which was a finalist for Future Project of the Year: Health at the World Architecture Festival 2017.

Luis received his M.Arch from the Taubman College at the University of Michigan, USA, where he instituted and taught the university’s first Introduction to Robotic Fabrication course. He received his B.Sc.Arch. at McGill University, Canada.
