October 31 | 12:00 am - 11:30 pm

The Association for the Promotion of Lightweight Construction (Verein zur Förderung des Leichtbaus e.V.) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the principles and philosophy of lightweight construction. For the 21st time, the Stuttgart-based association, chaired by Prof. Stefan Schäfer and Prof. Dr.-Ing. M.Arch. Lucio Blandini, is awarding the Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis (Stuttgart Lightweight Construction Prize), which comes with a total prize fund of 1,500 euros.
The Leichtbaupreis is aimed at students of architecture, civil engineering, design, aeronautical engineering, and mechanical engineering, in recognition of their work on design projects, dissertations, or master’s theses. The prize aims to promote work in the field of lightweight construction, thereby recognising students’ interest and commitment in this area.
In addition to the traditional disciplines of lightweight construction, such as structural, material, and systems lightweight construction, the prize also focuses on extended lightweight construction. This takes into account energy requirements, all emissions caused throughout the life cycle, and the recyclability of an object.
