Olga Mesa and Nathan Fash – “Performance2”

January 13 | 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

topic

Performance2

abstract

Mesa and Fash will present their approach to dynamic building skins called Performance2, a lens which pairs the social, cultural, and communicative forms of performance with quantifiable characteristics such as heat transfer, structural integrity, and energy use. Dynamic building skins as well as kinetic components at various scales and applications that take advantage of material properties and geometric principles will be presented to illustrate their perspective. Their work points towards the design of building skins that promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of our environment, where building skins are conceived as mediators that establish meaningful connections with our context instead of separating us from it.
