SUMMARY:IntCDC Constructive Conversations / Jasmin Schäfer
DESCRIPTION:The Association for the Promotion of Lightweight Construction (Verein zur Förderung des Leichtbaus e.V.) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the principles and philosophy of lightweight construction. For the 21st time\, the Stuttgart-based association\, chaired by Prof. Stefan Schäfer and Prof. Dr.-Ing. M.Arch. Lucio Blandini\, is awarding the Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis (Stuttgart Lightweight Construction Prize)\, which comes with a total prize fund of 1\,500 euros. \nThe Leichtbaupreis is aimed at students of architecture\, civil engineering\, design\, aeronautical engineering\, and mechanical engineering\, in recognition of their work on design projects\, dissertations\, or master’s theses. The prize aims to promote work in the field of lightweight construction\, thereby recognising students’ interest and commitment in this area. \nIn addition to the traditional disciplines of lightweight construction\, such as structural\, material\, and systems lightweight construction\, the prize also focuses on extended lightweight construction. This takes into account energy requirements\, all emissions caused throughout the life cycle\, and the recyclability of an object. \nGerman version\nStuttgarter Leichtbaupreis 2026\n\n\n \nThe Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis 2025 went to Hilal Burak\, Jana Henkelmann\, Jessica Munin\, Maximilian Richert\, supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mike de Saldanha\, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences\, School of Architecture for their Project “Unter einer Decke”. \nCall for Applications for the 21st Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis 2026\nThe Stuttgarter Leichtbaupreis 2026 is open to entries from across Germany\, Austria\, and Switzerland; participation is free of charge. \nThe deadline for entries is 31 October 2026. Further details can be found on the association’s website (in German\, https://leichtbauverein.com/).
